Martus; μάρτυς: One who affirms or attests, testifier, witness; one who witnesses at cost of life, martyr; e.g., “Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth”; “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Revelation 1:5; cf. 2:13; Acts 1:8).
Mission: To proclaim and to embody the gospel of the Kingdom of God for Wheaton, for the western Suburbs, Chicagoland, and for all nations through incarnational disciplemaking, microchurch multiplication, and cultural transformation, that all the the earth would be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, and that His kingdom would come and His will would be done on earth as it is in heaven, no matter the cost (Matthew 28:16-20; John 3:1-7, 20:21; Mark 16:15-16; Matthew 5:14-16, 6:10, 13:13; Acts 1:8, 2:42-47, 4:23-35; 2 Cor 3:17-18; Hab 2:14).
Vision: Every man, woman, and child given the opportunity to see (demonstration), hear (proclamation), encounter (incarnation), and respond (invitation) to Christ and the gospel of His Kingdom on a daily basis through the faithful ministry (i.e., word and deed; courage and compassion) of healthy, Christ-exalting, Spirit-filled and led, self-replicating expressions of the Kingdom of God (primarily microchurches/house churches gathered into geographical hubs) established on every block and among every people group in every city, living life together as family on mission, seeking the glory of God and the good of the city in all things (Acts 2:42-47; Matthew 6:10; cf. Matthew 5:14-16; 1 Cor 10:31).
In alignment with our kindred at KC Underground, we dream of a missionary team on every street, and a microchurch/housechurch on every block/among every people group in Wheaton, the Western Suburbs, throughout the entire Chicagoland area and beyond. It is our dream that in our city and beyond, the Kingdom of God would be made manifest, on earth as in heaven, across every cultural space (e.g., government, education, healthcare, commerce, arts, entertainment, etc.), and that the church of our city would exist as a city on a hill, living in such a way that all would see our good deeds and would glorify God (Mt 5:14-16), and that true revival would break forth for the salvation of many (Acts 2:42-47).
In pursuit of the above, we discern God has called us specifically to:
-Share Christ/proclaim the gospel of the kingdom to every resident of Wheaton (approx. 52, 019 people) as we simultaneously, seriously, and sacrificially pursue the global fulfillment of the Great Commission in our generation (FAI, Back to Jerusalem, Frontiers, GCF, etc.).
-Call the leadership of every business, school, and cultural institution (i.e., education, arts, commerce, government, media, medicine, agriculture, athletics, etc.) to repent, to believe the gospel, and to live out their vocation in obedience to and for the glory of Jesus Christ, King of Kings and LORD of lords.
-Pray and labor with all of our might to see Wheaton become a Christian city (polis) through the proclamation of the gospel (i.e., through regeneration, not political coercion) – to see every person, every household, and every cultural institution fully surrendered to the lordship of Christ over all things (yes, even over the public square), in answer to the prayer our LORD taught us to pray in faith – “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Mt 6:10).
"All of Christ, for all of life, for all of Wheaton, Chicagoland, and to the ends of the earth, no matter the cost."
